DigComp Child
DigComp CHILD is a project funded by the European Union under the call CERV-2025-CHILD. It aims to develop an evidence-based digital competence curriculum for adolescents aged 12 to 16.
The consortium is made up of Save the Children Spain, Fad Juventud, the European Association for Digital Transition (EADT), the Regional Government of Castilla y León and Save the Children Albania.
The project roots on the conviction that every adolescent has the right to participate in the digital world safely, inclusively and with access to reliable information. Adolescents therefore also have the right to receive education in the competences, knowledge and independent thinking skills they need to navigate and thrive in the digital environment. Safely, responsibly and with a full awareness of their rights.
To achieve this, DigCompChild will provide a scalable, evidence-based tool, and pilot it in real classrooms, facilitating the integration of a digital competence curriculum adaptable to different types of formal education.
Three pillars for effectiveness
A comprehensive assessment of good practices, regulatory gaps and educational needs in Spain and across Europe. The analysis also includes sessions with secondary-school students in different settings, grounding the curriculum design in real evidence and in the specific needs of learners and teachers.
Based on this assessment, the project will develop a comprehensive and inclusive curriculum co-designed with adolescents, teachers, experts and other key stakeholders, ensuring that it responds to diverse educational contexts and social realities.
The project also incorporates an essential scientific dimension: rigorous evaluation through a pilot in schools, applying high ethical and methodological standards to measure the curriculum’s real impact on learners’ digital competences.
